Sonic Altar began on the outskirts of Silverdale on the Hibiscus Coast on a bitingly cold morning in January of 2006. Since that cold morning the band has been churning out heart pounding hard rock that reminds one of well….Sonic Altar.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground rocked to Midnight Oil, Crowded House, Kylie and others all to benefit the victims of the Australian bushfires. The Age puts it this way:
“One vision, one people, one landmass, we are defenceless, we have a lifeline,” he sang on the moving One Country. “One element, one moment, one fusion, yes and one time,” before segueing into a Jimi Hendrix-style Advance Australia Fair.
There were many other songs that seemed as if they were written especially for the day (Crowded House’s Four Seasons in One Day and Don’t Dream It’s Over) and Hunters & Collectors (When the River Runs Dry and Holy Grail) and Paul Kelly (Leaps and Bounds, Meet Me in the Middle of the Air). But it’s Garrett and the Oils that managed to best articulate how we felt, without the cliches
A good time was had by all.
And hheerrees Kylie

Tim Finn is to make one last final concert in aid of the Australian Bush Fires at the Melbourne Cricket Ground this weekend. He had previously made official farewells on a national stadium tour of Australia in 2006.
“As soon as I saw the bushfires on TV I knew that we would get asked to play at a fund-raiser,” said Finn, who along with his Split Enz bandmates, considered Melbourne a second home. “And I knew straight away that we would say yes.”
Other Star studded but Australian artists may include:
The concert’s star-studded line up of performers was keeping mum yesterday, but media have been told to get their cameras and pens ready for a special announcement and a cross to the SCG at 7.45pm, which happens to be when Kylie Minogue hits the stage. Rumours have been circulating that Ms Minogue might join Hunters & Collectors for a version of Throw Your Arms Around Me, or alternatively, join Olivia Newton-John for a long-distance duet.

We work without prejudice recognising that all kiwi musicians should be applauded regardless of whether they’re signed to an international music label or recording through a 4-track in their bedroom. We take great pride in knowing that we’ve assisted dozens of kiwi acts on their rise from obscurity to national and international acclaim.
